The Oddball's Guide to Leading the Chronically Unenthused and/or Offended™️
A field guide to leading and working with people who definitely didn't ask for this
I've long believed that effective team leadership is a demanding, difficult calling that requires more than most people can or want to commit to.
That reality is even more pronounced when you lead like an Oddball — even if your brand of Oddball Leadership doesn't look like mine. Because at the end of the day, the most soft-spoken, modestly-dressed Oddballs are also
- Showing gratitude to their teammates in ways that are actually meaningful — even when it's "weird," or whatever;
- Leveraging the power of curiosity to blow up the power dynamic during difficult conversations; and
- Creating team cohesion with joy because it makes the work survivable.

The honest and unfortunate truth about leading like this is that some of the people you lead are going to find the care and thought you put into your leadership approach inconsequential.
Still others are going to be annoyed with your leadership style or even resent you for it.
It's a one-two punch with your name on it. Congratulations!

If this kind of content resonates with you, I write all about Oddball Leadership every week!
No spam, no corporate jargon. Just real leadership, observed in slightly (or very!) strange ways. 😎😎😎
